Business Process Management

Business Process Management

Business Process Management (BPM) is more than workflows and process modelling, it is the comprehensive practice that aims to achieve an organisation’s goals by understanding, improving and optimizing business processes. This entails striving to reach optimal effectiveness and efficiency by making continuous improvements. Institutionalizing process optimization ensures that you go beyond making periodic improvements. Meaning that, appropriate mechanisms are put in place in order to prevent unproductive processes and continuous improvement is established in your organisation’s DNA.

At Business & Decision we believe that process, data and decisions (business rules) are closely linked. To execute processes and make the right decisions, data is required. In some context processes depend on data from upstream, while other processes are purely focused on creation of new data. To improve the efficiency of an organisation, the entire chain of data collection, process flow, and intelligent decision making must be understood. Next, data is essential to measure, analyse and improve the broader business process, enabling it to meet an organisation’s goals.

Process Architecture

Process Architecture entails the design and development of a standardized, compliant enterprise-level process framework that combines people, process, technology, regulation and KPIs. The end-to-end process provides you with the best support for your organization.

Process Intelligence

Process Intelligence encompasses the visualization and analysis of your ‘true’ business processes by leveraging process mining tools, which process and analyse process event data. Based on this information, we can visualize and understand what exact process steps were taken when and by whom. Ultimately, this will demonstrate bottlenecks, waste, gaps and compliance to policy and regulations. Process Intelligence is the tool to support process analysis and optimization, as it not only measures and visualizes your problem, but it provides a holistic definition of how to fix your problem.

Process Digitization

The objective of Process Digitization is to transform cumbersome, resource intensive and manual processes into transparent, measurable and efficient business processes. The incorporation of intuitive process flows in organisations that face complex processes with long lead times has become indispensable to employees as it enables them to have all the work items in one environment including user workbaskets and history tracking. In collaboration with our partners we deliver automation and digitization for unstructured and context-dependent processes. For context-dependent processes where the outcome can differ, there is also a specific case management module. Based on an entity-classification data model, we can define and analyse the relationship between case objects and other context information – thus enabling users to obtain the broader picture of the client, its accounts, the (estimated) delivery of products and related cases at your fingertips.

Robotic Process Automation

Small scale, clearly scoped repeatable tasks are excellent candidates for the fast-growing new practice of Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Generally considered the deployment of trained robots to execute a simple task fast, cheap and efficient, RPA is gaining ground in many organisations. However, more and more pitfalls around failed RPA initiatives are being documented. This is why, our RPA offering includes, besides standard testing -, implementation -, support cycles, a business process-oriented analysis and design of phase, where we define a solid business case for automation.

Process Reengineering

Based on several well-proven continuous improvement methodologies, Process Reengineering focusses on measuring and analysing, for example, process speed, variations, defects, waste and the use of inventory in the broader business processes. Based on an integrated approach combining Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen, we gain a holistic understanding of how the process performs in terms of quality, time, flexibility and costs. Based on these insights, we identify what factors influence these features, so that we can start identifying areas of improvement.

BPM Quick Scan

For potential clients that would like to discover whether the challenges faced internally can be contributed to BPM challenges, and how this translates to a suitable approach, we offer a quick scan method. In our vision, every BPM related initiative starts with the creation of an internal BPM strategy, vision and corresponding roadmap for the organisation. By making use of a BPM quick scan, the current maturity level within your organisation is assessed, potential process improvement initiatives, scope and prioritization are defined. The organization is then able to make a well-considered decision prior to investing heavily in a large long-term project.
